Legacy Weapon Camos Won’t Carry Forward Into Modern Warfare 4 Warzone
Activision has corrected its previous Warzone messaging, confirming that weapon camos from legacy Call of Duty titles will not carry forward into the Modern Warfare 4 era.

Activision has corrected an earlier claim about cosmetic content carrying into the next era of Call of Duty: Warzone, confirming that weapon camos from legacy titles will not carry forward into Modern Warfare 4's version of Warzone.
The clarification is unusually direct. Activision said:
“It was stated that Weapon Camos from legacy titles will be available in Call of Duty: Warzone. This is incorrect.”
For players who had understood the previous messaging to mean their existing camo collections would remain available, that sentence changes the picture considerably.
Activision corrects its previous Warzone camo statement
The important part of Activision's update is not simply that the company has provided more information. It is explicitly correcting information that had already been communicated.
According to the clarification, weapon camos from previous Call of Duty titles will not be available in the Modern Warfare 4 era of Warzone, despite an earlier statement indicating that legacy camos would carry forward.
There is not much ambiguity in the wording: the previous statement was incorrect.
That distinction matters because Call of Duty's cosmetic ecosystem stretches across multiple releases, and the question of what survives a transition into a new Warzone era can be important to players deciding how much time they want to spend unlocking cosmetics.
In this case, at least for weapon camos, Activision has now drawn a line.
Legacy weapon camos will not carry forward
The correction specifically concerns weapon camos from legacy Call of Duty titles.
That means players should not interpret the previous carry-forward messaging as confirmation that their older weapon camo collections will remain usable once Warzone moves into its Modern Warfare 4 phase.
Activision's statement does not, based on the information currently available, provide a broader breakdown of every cosmetic category affected by the transition.
It would therefore be premature to assume that the same rule automatically applies to operators, blueprints or other cosmetic items unless Activision separately confirms their status.
The confirmed change here is narrower: legacy weapon camos are not carrying forward.
The correction matters as much as the decision
In my view, the most significant part of this story is Activision having to reverse an expectation it had already created.
Players can reasonably accept that a new Call of Duty cycle may come with restrictions on older content. The more awkward issue is being told that something will remain available and then learning that the information was incorrect.
At least the correction itself leaves little room for creative interpretation. “This is incorrect” is about as uncomplicated as corporate clarification gets.
The unanswered question is now how broadly Call of Duty's existing cosmetic library will be affected when Modern Warfare 4 reshapes Warzone.
For weapon camos, however, players finally have a definitive answer — just not the one they were originally given.
