Modern Warfare 4 DMZ Update Fixes Major XP Bugs and Frustrating Mission Issues
A new Modern Warfare 4 DMZ patch tackles frustrating XP glitches, broken missions, squad reward problems, and crashes just days before the game's full launch. Here's everything that's been fixed.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 has received a new round of fixes for DMZ Early Access, addressing problems with mission progression, squad rewards, crashes, and several gameplay systems just days before the game's full launch on October 23.
The October 20 update, detailed by Call of Duty Updates, focuses on technical problems rather than weapon balancing or new content. Some of the most relevant changes concern how players earn XP, complete objectives, and manage their equipment during deployments.
DMZ Progression and Squad Rewards Receive Important Fixes
Among the most significant improvements is a correction to the After-Action Report, which could incorrectly show that players had earned zero XP after completing their first match.
The reported issue concerned the display of earned XP. The notes do not establish that players were actually losing their progression, making this an important distinction for anyone who encountered the problem.
Another fix addresses Commander encounters in squad play. Previously, only the player who delivered the final blow to a Commander could receive XP and progression toward the King Slayer Calling Card.
The update corrects that behavior, removing a problem that could leave squad members without credit despite participating in the encounter.
Developers have also fixed an issue that allowed players to receive double completion credit for story missions.
Together, these changes address inconsistencies in how DMZ recognizes completed activities and distributes progression rewards.
Breaking New Ground and Dynamic Operations Get Stability Improvements
Several fixes target problems that could interrupt missions or prevent players from completing objectives.
The Breaking New Ground mission receives particular attention. Developers addressed a crash associated with breaching a door, alongside an issue that allowed enemy AI to enter unintended areas when a player was downed.
Another bug could prevent the tablet screen from activating after players searched the crashed drone, potentially disrupting mission progression.
