Modern Warfare 4 Update Boosts XP and DMZ Rewards: Here’s What Changed
The October 29 MW4 update brings faster Multiplayer progression, bigger DMZ cash rewards, a new Halloween mode, and important bug fixes.

The October 29 update for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 brings changes to both Multiplayer and DMZ, with increased XP rewards, improved mission payouts, and fixes for several frustrating gameplay issues.
Infinity Ward has also introduced Possession, a new Halloween-themed Multiplayer mode, giving players something different to try alongside the latest progression improvements.
According to the official Modern Warfare 4 patch notes, the update focuses primarily on progression, stability, and quality-of-life fixes rather than additional weapon balancing.
Multiplayer XP Rewards Increased
One of the most relevant changes for Multiplayer players is an increase in XP earn rates across several game modes.
Infinity Ward says the adjustment is intended to make progression more consistent, potentially benefiting players working through their ranks and unlocks.
However, the developer has not published a complete breakdown of the affected modes or their new XP values. That means there is currently no confirmed basis for identifying which playlist offers the fastest progression following this update.
The XP changes also follow the October 28 weapon-balancing patch, which introduced adjustments to several weapons. The October 29 notes do not announce further weapon damage or recoil changes.
Possession Arrives as a New Halloween Mode
Possession is now available in Modern Warfare 4 as part of the game's Halloween celebrations.
The new Party Mode joins the Multiplayer playlist, offering an alternative to the standard competitive modes.
Its arrival is particularly relevant for players looking for seasonal content beyond the existing map and playlist rotation.
