Al Mazrah Is Coming Back? Infinity Ward Drops a Huge Warzone Season 4 Tease
One of Warzone's most iconic maps could be making a massive comeback in Modern Warfare 4 Season 4. Infinity Ward has dropped an intriguing hint, but there's still a major question surrounding Al Mazrah's return.

Infinity Ward has hinted that Al Mazrah could return to Call of Duty: Warzone during Modern Warfare 4 Season 4, potentially bringing back one of the most recognisable Battle Royale maps from the Modern Warfare II era.
The possibility emerged on October 30, 2026, as Infinity Ward shared its plans for Modern Warfare 4's post-launch seasons. Gaming news account CharlieIntel highlighted the apparent teaser, suggesting that the desert battleground could make its comeback later in the game's seasonal cycle.
However, Al Mazrah's return has not yet been confirmed through a detailed official Warzone roadmap. No release date, gameplay changes or map rotation arrangements have been announced for Season 4.
Why Al Mazrah's potential return matters for Warzone
Originally introduced with Warzone 2.0 in November 2022, Al Mazrah was the franchise's main large-scale Battle Royale environment during the Modern Warfare II lifecycle.
Its combination of dense urban areas, exposed desert terrain, industrial facilities and mountainous regions created noticeably different combat situations across a single match.
Locations such as Al Mazrah City, Observatory, Rohan Oil and Al Bagra Fortress offered distinct opportunities for long-range engagements, close-quarters fighting and strategic rotations.
The map eventually gave way to Urzikstan when Modern Warfare III integrated with Warzone in December 2023.
A return under Modern Warfare 4 would therefore be particularly interesting because players could experience Al Mazrah within a different gameplay environment from the one in which it originally launched.
That distinction matters. The map's geography was only one part of the original experience, while movement mechanics, weapon handling and other gameplay systems also influenced how engagements unfolded.
If Infinity Ward brings Al Mazrah back, the key question will be whether the environment returns largely unchanged or receives meaningful adjustments to accommodate Modern Warfare 4's gameplay systems.
For now, neither possibility has been confirmed.
Modern Warfare 4 already has major Warzone map plans
Al Mazrah's potential comeback would follow an extensive expansion of Warzone's map selection.
According to Activision's official Season 1 announcement, Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 launches on November 6, 2026, introducing the new Hajin and Zodiac maps alongside the returning Verdansk and Rebirth Island.
Hajin is designed for the large-scale Battle Royale experience, while Zodiac expands the Resurgence offering.
This approach is important when considering Al Mazrah's possible future. Warzone is already moving toward a broader selection of playable environments rather than relying exclusively on one large Battle Royale map.
An Al Mazrah return could expand that selection further, although it remains unclear whether the map would coexist with other environments, replace an existing location or appear through a limited-time playlist.
Infinity Ward has not yet established which approach it would take.
When could Al Mazrah return to Warzone?
The current teaser points toward Modern Warfare 4 Season 4, but Activision has not announced the season's launch date.
With Season 1 scheduled for November 6, Al Mazrah's possible comeback would be a future addition rather than part of Warzone's immediate Modern Warfare 4 integration.
Players should also distinguish between a developer hint and a confirmed content announcement. The available information does not establish whether the entire original map will return, whether its layout will change or which Battle Royale playlists might support it.
What makes the teaser noteworthy is the possibility of revisiting Al Mazrah after several years of changes to Warzone's core gameplay.
For players who remember the original map but preferred later Warzone movement and combat mechanics, a Modern Warfare 4 version could offer a substantially different experience.
Until Activision provides more details, Al Mazrah remains a teased possibility for Season 4 rather than a confirmed playable addition.
