Modern Warfare 4's Battle Pass Just Got a Game-Changing Feature
No time to grind? Modern Warfare 4 introduces a new Battle Pass Catch Up system that automatically advances premium players through seasonal rewards. Here's how it works.

Modern Warfare 4 is introducing a major change to Call of Duty's Battle Pass progression with Season 1: a new Catch Up system designed to help players unlock premium rewards even when they fall behind during the season.
Announced by Activision on October 28, the feature automatically advances eligible premium Battle Pass owners to a reward corresponding to the current day of the season, with catch-up progression capped at day 50.
It is a notable departure from a system where falling behind could leave players scrambling to complete their Battle Pass before the season ends.
How the New Battle Pass Catch Up System Works
According to the official Call of Duty Season 1 announcement, the new system guarantees access to more than 50 premium Battle Pass rewards for eligible players.
The central mechanic is straightforward: players who fall behind will automatically catch up to the reward corresponding to the current day of the season, up to day 50.
For example, a player who owns the premium Battle Pass but has made limited progress by day 30 should be able to benefit from catch-up progression corresponding to that point in the season.
Importantly, the feature does not guarantee completion of the entire Battle Pass. Its automatic progression stops at day 50, while players must continue earning progress to complete the remaining tiers.
Activision has not yet detailed every aspect of the catch-up calculation, including precisely how it handles players purchasing the premium pass later in the season.
A New 100-Tier Battle Pass With More Rewards
The Catch Up system arrives alongside another significant change: Modern Warfare 4 Season 1 introduces a streamlined, linear 100-tier Battle Pass.
Instead of navigating a more complicated reward structure, players will progress through a straightforward sequence of tiers containing cosmetic items, weapons and other unlockables.
